EDUCATIONAL MAPPING

Sometimes, there are unique challenges faced by parents or schools, and it becomes difficult to determine how best to support a child within the educational system. The Dirksen Center is glad to serve as a resource for parents, educators and schools who would like some assistance navigating unfamiliar waters and determining how best to promote academic progress. We work with parents, children, and schools to clearly identify strengths and weaknesses, to identify appropriate educational accommodations, help organize services, and determine the most appropriate setting for a child's education. We use that information to map an educational plan for growth and success.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES

Homework Help

• Support with homework assignments
• Review of notes/materials from class
• Reinforcement/reteaching of skills
• Assistance with long-term projects
• Studying for tests and quizzes
• 45-50 minute work sessions with 5-minute parent "check-ins"

Reading Intervention

• Targeted one-on-one instruction
• Personalized lesson plans and goals
• Hands-on, interactive learning
• 30-45 minute session with 5-10 minute parent "check-in"
• Frequent assessments
• 6-week progress updates

Student Support: Study & Organizational Skills

• Organize materials and assignments efficiently
• Practice effective study habits
• Use simple strategies to support classroom learning
• Improve homework completion and preparation for quizzes/tests
• Break down big projects into manageable pieces
• Prioritize tasks
• 30-45 minute sessions with 5-10 minute parent "check-ins" each session
• Integration of IEP goals (if applicable)
